StarWhisper is developed by AAAI Studio LLC ("we", "our", "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Private vault audio: Your personal whispers are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your device. Encryption keys are stored in your device Keychain/Secure Enclave and are not sent to us.
Transcription: StarWhisper uses Apple's Speech framework. Depending on your device, locale, and iOS settings, Apple may process speech recognition on-device or through Apple's speech services. Private transcription text is stored encrypted in your vault.
Sentiment metadata: A simple light/neutral/heavy classification is computed on-device and used for summaries and matching.
Anonymous identity: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication. The app does not ask for your email address, phone number, real name, or profile photo.
Diagnostics and analytics: We collect app events, crash reports, device/app version information, and error diagnostics to operate and improve StarWhisper. These logs do not include private whisper content.
Optional security data: If you enable break-in alerts, the app may capture a photo and location when someone attempts to access your vault.
If you opt into Fireflies, an anonymized, NER-stripped version of your whisper transcription and its sentiment may be stored in Firebase so it can be matched and moderated. Your Firebase user ID is converted to a hash before other users see the content.
If you send or receive a whisper-back, the anonymized reply transcription and reply audio are stored in Firebase for delivery and moderation. Social reply audio is not protected by your private vault key because it must be playable by the recipient.
You can delete your data at any time from Settings → Delete All My Data. The app removes your Firebase account data, whispers, fireflies, replies, reports, notification tokens, and related storage objects, then clears local vault data from the device where you start deletion.
We do not sell personal data and do not use your data for third-party advertising tracking.
StarWhisper is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
